General Teaching Resources

  1. 2003 through 2008 CST Released Test Questions- Released test questions from the 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 California Standards Tests (CSTs).
  2. Graph Paper- Free online graph paper and grid paper pdf.
  3. Graph and Other Paper - Need a pentagonal pyramid that's six inches tall? Or a number line that goes from ‑18 to 32 by 5's? Or a set of pattern blocks where all shapes have one-inch sides? You can create all those things and more with the Dynamic Paper tool. Place the images you want, then export it as a PDF activity sheet for your students or as a JPEG image for use in other applications or on the web.
  4. Mathwire.com: Template Library- See Active Participation: Using Math Templates for more information about using templates: to increase student participation in math lesson and to assess student proficiency and mathematical understanding of concepts and skills.
  5. Problems with a Point- In addition to seven familiar areas—number, geometry and measurement, algebra and functions, statistics and probability, discrete math, trigonometry, and calculus—there are three included that are less often identified as "areas" in the curriculum: topology; "math without math"; and logic, axiomatic systems, and foundations.
  6. AAA Math- AAA Math features a comprehensive set of interactive arithmetic lessons. Unlimited practice is available on each topic which allows thorough mastery of the concepts. A wide range of lessons (Kindergarten through Eighth grade level) enables learning or review to occur at each individual's current level. Immediate feedback prevents practicing and learning incorrect methods, which is a common result of traditional homework and worksheets. Practice can continue as long as desired in a non-threatening format which helps build self-esteem and confidence. The lessons from the web site are available on the CD. The CD runs on Windows and Macintosh computers and you do not need to be connected to the internet to use the lessons. This is a feature that is desired by many parents of young students. There are no advertisements on the CD. The CD is also available in a Spanish language version.
  7. Cool Math- Designed to help frustrated students who hate math and students who love math. This resource has lessons, games, applets, dictionaries, and so much more to help students in pre-algebra to calculus learn math in a fun and engaging way.
  8. Math Warehouse- This resource is a glossary of math topics for multiple grades with an emphasis on Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry.
  9. myTestBook.com- This resource generates worksheets for grade levels 1-8 for math, science, and language arts. It also provides online practice tests for the students.
  10. Math Playground - This resource can be used by teachers to create worksheets, puzzles, etc for math. The teacher can also do demonstrations with Pattern Blocks, Geoboards, Fraction Strips, spinners and much more. Students can use this site in class or at home to practice math operations, finding percents, solving one- and two-step equations and more. Videos are also included for how to solve a variety of problems.
  11. Graphing Calculator - This resource allows you to graph polynomial equations and basic trigonometric functions, plot points, and view three-dimenional solids or surfaces.

Materials needed Adobe software
Learning Objectives

Each template has its own learning objectives.

Grade Levels All
CA Standards Covers multiple standards from the Mathematics Framework for California Public Schools.
How could you use this resource? Students can use the templates at home once the assignment has been given and the students are aware of what to do with the template. Teachers can use the activities as an activity in any way they see necessary. The resources are fairly easy to use if the teacher is aware of how to use them. Title Math Warehouse

Materials needed Computer with high speed internet
Java Script
Adobe Flash Player
Adobe Reader
Learning Objectives

Multiple learning objectives based on subtopic and resource.

Grade Levels The topics cover multiple grade levels including Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry.
CA Standards Covers multiple standards from the Mathematics Framework for California Public Schools.
How could you use this resource?

Students can use this resource at home and in a lab by working on the interactive math activities and lessons. These lessons are done on the computer but there are worksheets the teacher can print and give them to the students to take home and do. There are also online calculators the student can use as well as practice problems for each topic. I think teachers can use this site in a variety of ways. The teacher can print activities that the students can do as a group, the site can be used as a demonstration because there are many interactive resources, and the teacher can integrate this into the introduction lesson because there are definitions with examples to go along with it. The resource is moderately easy to use. The only problem I had was that because there are so many links for each topic and the links are in a smaller font than normal it would become hard to navigate because I'd mistake the link for just plain text. Then I realized that almost all the link pages on this resources are colored turquoise.

EL and Special Needs

This site addresses the needs of EL students because each subtopic within the course is defined. The teachers can modify the site by making the activities into group work and lessons can even be printed and given to the students. Each practice problem provides extra instruction if the student can't solve it.
